Children from the Baan Bang Bo School on the outskirts of Bangkok were in for a treat of a lifetime when QNET Thailand organised a fun day out for thirty-five students to Safari World in Thailand. The students were from less fortunate backgrounds, and it was the first ever field trip they had been on.
QNET Thailand staff gathered early in the morning to pick the students up from their schools and bring them to Safari World. The children showed immense excitement because this was also the first time they would be seeing their favourite animals live.
Once at Safari World, the children and volunteers toured the open zoo where they had a chance to drive around and view animals in their habitat. They had a chance to spot the big cats – lions and tigers, learn about zebras and black bears, and feed giraffes and colourful birds, all the while learning more about these animals.
The students of Baan Bang Bo School also got to watch dolphins and orangutans in action, and learn about varieties of birds and conservation issues. They went through an ‘Eggs World’, an interactive educational centre dedicated to displaying the full life cycle of birds. The most awe-inspiring part of this tour was watching a live hatchery and seeing the nurses feed the hatchlings.
For the children of Baan Bang Bo, this was a Fun Day they will remember for a long time. They were able to see a different place that isn't easily accessible to them. They also got to eat out with their friends, interact with QNET volunteers, and spend a day that was filled with enjoyment and education.
To QNET staff, it was the perfect opportunity to practice our core aim of RYTHM and get one step closer towards fulfilling our goal of Touching A Billion Hearts.
