QNET Hong Kong celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival by spending quality time with over 60 elders with special needs, all residents of the St James’ Settlement in Hong Kong. The festival was an occasion for staff and volunteers of QNET to show care and love for the elders, and bringing some festive cheer to the home.
QNET Hong Kong staff and volunteers teamed up with the residents to have a fun day at the home. Activities included a laughter-filled chicken dance, and a tonne of singing, dancing and games. Everyone then came together to share traditional mooncakes and fruits, and spent a peaceful afternoon swapping stories.
“The sharing of life experience by less privileged members of the community reminds us that we are very fortunate and that we should give back to the society,” said QNET Operations Manager Stephen So.
St James Settlement is a non-profit that benefits children, youth, people with disabilities, and elders with special needs. Every year, the settlement serves more than 3.8 million individuals, providing a broad spectrum of services ranging from community support to residential care. Spending time with the residents of the elderly home was one of the many ways QNET Hong Kong was able to uphold the principles of RYTHM.
