As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, QNET Philippines had an early Christmas celebration at The Cottolengo Filipino, a charity home for orphaned children with disabilities. This is the second year QNET Philippines staff have visited the home.
Two days before the visit, the Philippine CSR Committee bought basic necessities to donate to the home. These included sacks of rice, oats, diapers, bath soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and laundry detergent. The evening before the event, several staff gathered at the office to wrap gifts for the 39 children at Cottolengo. Inside the gift packages were towels, baby powder, underwear, cologne bottles, and toothbrushes.
Then on Saturday at Cottolengo, thirty other volunteers delivered the packages and got a chance to interact with the children, assisting in feeding them, asking them about themselves, and even dancing with them. Those who had also been present during last year’s visit expressed how pleased they were to spend time with the kids again, noting how much some of them have grown in just a year.
QNET Philippines General Manager Mayette Dela Cruz noted that activities like this are QNET's way of paying forward the blessings the company has received. Having been reminded of Taarana School for Children with Special Learning Needs, which serves a similar mission to Cottolengo Filipino, she expressed hope that we would be able to build their own Taarana soon in the Philippines.
