QNET Singapore made their way to East Coast Park for a beach cleanup activity as part of the Staff Social Responsibility under RYTHM Foundation.

After a safety briefing at the office, QNET Singapore staff spent an afternoon picking up man-made trash from the shoreline of East Coast Park. Armed with gloves, tongs and trash bags, they collected discarded cigarette butts, tissue paper, plastic wrappers, bottle caps and broken glass found scattered on the sand and wedged between tree roots within the allocated area.      

The activity was done in cooperation with the Public Hygiene Council and National Environment Agency (NEA), who have been leading the Keep Singapore Clean Movement since its inception in 2012. The movement aims to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of Singapore by having various organisations and individuals pledge to take ownership of their environment and take special care of public spaces for their own benefit and that of future generations.

On the momentous occasion of QNET’s 18^th Anniversary, QNET Parent Company marked the commencement of QI City development with a ‘ground breaking’ ceremony at the project development site in Ipoh, Malaysia. Spread over 26 acres, the mixed commercial and residential Edu-City is expected to be completed in three years.

The ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister of Perak Dato' Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry bin Abdul Kadir (right), and our Founder Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran.

"The QI City development will not only be a catalyst for further economic growth of Ipoh but I also believe that the education and health facilities we will offer will become a bridge for Malaysia to bring ASEAN countries closer together. It presents us with the right opportunities to create conducive business environments to facilitate dialogue between countries and capture the enabling conditions of economic and social development to include a deliberate and actionable focus on inclusive economic growth both for the state and for the nation,” said Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran

The QI City project envisages the first of its kind fully integrated education hub in the country, and is nestled in a township fast becoming known as ‘The New Heartbeat of Ipoh’. When completed, QI City will comprise of a teaching hospital, the Quest International University Perak (QIUP) campus, three condominium blocks, a convention centre and hotel suites.

Flanked by The V Managing Director Pathman ‘Chief’ Senathirajah and QNET Managing Director JR Mayer, Vivek Oberoi stepped on stage to the cheers of a ten thousand strong crowd. Awed by the passion of our QNET Independent Representatives, Vivek Oberoi’s first words as he stepped on the tremendous #VCON16 stage in Dubai was “That’s Magic!”. Speaking to crowd of IRs who have travelled from all over the globe for this momentous 5 day convention, Vivek Oberoi stressed that it is the right attitude and the right momentum that defines our life.

Vivek spoke about a time in his life after he became a Bollywood celebrity where he felt like he was being left behind, and couldn’t catch a break with critics. His mother recognised his silent suffering and took him to visit a centre with children fighting cancer. The children were ecstatic to see Vivek and showered him with hugs and affection. He spoke about how, at that moment in time, his eyes were opened to his true potential as a celebrity and, more importantly, as a human to make a difference.

His dedication to help those less fortunate mirrors QNET’s core pillar of ‘Raise Yourself To Help Mankind’.  In fact, in India, Vivek Oberoi is the ambassador for the Accessible India Campaign for persons with disabilities. As a symbol of his dedication to help the lives of as many people as he can, he bought several ‘Hold My Hand’ bands in support of Taarana.

The universally loved The V Managing Director Pathman ‘Chief’ Senathirajah and our Founder Joseph Bismark led the fanfare for the official release of the highly anticipated book Two Minutes from the Abyss.

Joseph Bismark set the stage for the release of the book by talking about the three pillars that QNET is built upon – Love, Loyalty and Service. He spoke about hard work and resilience as he related a story about his observations on ants, and how they never give up no matter what the roadblock. He also said that you cannot be successful alone, it is through helping others succeed that you find genuine happiness.

Pathman ‘Chief’ Senathirajah then invited Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran on stage, and a ten thousand strong crowd cheered as he announced the release of his latest book on the only stage deserving of his masterpiece – V-UAE 2016.

Dato’ spoke at length about the inspiration behind the book, and some personal behind-the-scene moments in producing the book. He wowed the crowd by reading an excerpt of his favourite chapter which talks about overcoming adversity.

Adversity brings out the best in us, as nothing else will, or can. It brings strength to our character. When one challenges diversity in any form, the only true adversary is within oneself. The first step to overcome fears and frustrations, leave behind the despair and disappointments and focus only on putting one foot in front of the other, one step at a time”

Organised by the Malaysian Embassy in Myanmar, QNET participated in the Merdeka Charity Golf event in Yangon as one of the four Gold Sponsors of the event. The Merdeka Charity Golf saw its beginning over twenty years ago in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day, and every year, the proceeds of the event goes to charities across Yangon. This year’s tournament saw a total of 160 golfers teeing-off, and was followed by a Gala Dinner.

The event was officiated by the Ambassador of Malaysia to Myanmar His Excellency Mohd Haniff Abd Rahman who also gave away the prizes to winners at the Gala Dinner ceremony.

Participants this year comprised of members from the business fraternity, as well as senior government officials which included Ambassadors of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Cambodia and Myanmar’s ex-Minister U Ye Min Tun.

Having discovered that the number one medical requirement at the nursing home where QNET Thailand had volunteered previously was for muscle relief balms, QNET Thailand organised a Corporate Social Responsibility titled ‘It Will Heal’.

To help the elderly with relief from their aches and pains, QNET staff put their Saturday forward to come together to make fluid muscle relief roll-ons from scratch. The team was split into five groups and each group went through the process of measuring the right ingredients, patiently mixing them, labelling the bottles, filling them and fixing the roll-on top. Through the activity, over two hundred and fifty abandoned elders would receive free fluid muscle relief balms that were hand-made with love by QNET.

Through the various CSR activities that the staff of QNET in Thailand have participated in throughout the year, the desire to follow the values of RYTHM (Raise Yourself To Help Mankind) has grown stronger and stronger, with staff willing to drop all other plans and help out in any way they can. This passion and dedication to make a difference will soon see us meet our collective goal of Touching A Billion Hearts.

For the fifth year running, Taarana School for Children with Special Learning Needs hosted their annual concert around the theme of ‘Cultural Unity’ for their families. The spectacular showcase featured a slew of traditional dances from different cultures to an audience of over three hundred well-wishers.

The performances were a marvel to look at, and were a means for the special needs children of Taarana to express themselves through dance. The audience was treated to the Terengganu-traditional Ulik Mayang dance, Kuda Kepang dance, Chinese lantern dance, and the Chinese Fan and Ribbon dance.

“The students here have been working diligently to put on a good performance for their loved ones during this concert. We are very proud of how far they have come, clearly through their dedication towards making this concert a success. Each year, we see a different light in them and this year, we watched them glow in Malaysia’s cultural splendour,” said Chairperson of the Vijayaratnam Foundation Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran.

As with every year, this annual concert was a testament to the dedication of the Taarana staff to help students with learning difficulties to develop social and academic skills through tailor-made programmes that focus on the holistic development of each child.

Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran added, “Taarana endeavours to assist these children to assimilate into society and to learn how to be independent, and musical performances like these help build their confidence. This concert is a means to showcase their skills and hidden talents and we could not be any happier with what has taken place today. Seeing the smiles on their faces and that of their family and friends is what keeps us going.”

Swiss eLearning Institute, QNET’s well-loved online educational platform, organised an inspirational graduation ceremony for its students at the tremendous V-UAE 2016 stage. Over eighty graduates from across the world received their certificates on stage in front of an incredible 10,000-strong audience. The graduation ceremony was yet another expression of QNET’s long-term commitment to holistic development of Independent Representatives through the Absolute Living campaign.

Product Marketing Manager of Online Education Bernhard Gaksch unveiled the brand new Swiss eLearning Institute app and spoke about how the courses at Swiss eLearning Institute are constantly being adapted to not only make learning an enjoyable experience but also a fruitful one. Bernhard Gaksch reiterated that the courses are curated by globally renowned academics, scientists and field professionals from Switzerland’s leading online university, the SMC University, and are designed to provide students with necessary and relevant knowledge that result in first-hand skills and tools that can be immediately applied in everyday life and business.

V Partner Donna Imson-Lecaroz took to stage and spoke about the importance of education in reaping success. She regaled the audience with a story about a mother in Mali who was deeply saddened by her son’s disinterest in his studies and his tendency to slack of. As a QNET IR, she bought a Swiss eLearning Institute development course and offered it to her son. Her son not only finished the course but was inspired enough to go back to university and get an engineering degree.
